The Professional Standards Unit (PSU) is responsible for the administration of the internal affairs investigative process and monitoring the process by which uses of force, officer involved traffic collisions, and vehicle pursuits are reviewed.

The purpose of the internal affairs process is to conduct thorough and objective investigations regarding complaints of employee misconduct. Complaints are presented to the Chief of Police for a final fair and appropriate adjudication and/or sanction, with consideration given to the complainant, the Department, the individual employee, and the public trust.
