Candidates file an application online. |

City of Indio Human Resources staff and the Indio Police Department Personnel Sergeant review the application for minimum qualifications. A polygraph exam will be administered. |

Candidates complete Pre-Investigative Questionnaire (PIQ, Personal History Statement (PHS), and 1-page Autobiography.The Personnel Sergeant will screen the candidate's documents for any disqualifying background issues. |

Candidates receive a link to take the CritiCall exam via email. The CritiCall exam is an online computerized pre-employment exam that consists of an intensive, multi-dimensional test battery for entry-leveldispatchers. The test is designed to measure skills and abilities a person needs to possess prior to any dispatch training. |

Oral interview will be conducted through the Behavioral Personnel Assessment Device (B-PAD), involving video recorded responses, which are evaluated for Experience, Problem Solving Ability, Communication Skills, Interest/Motivation, Interpersonal Skills, and Community Involvement/Awareness. |

An extensive background investigation will be conducted. Candidate meets with background investigatorand reviews PIQ and PHS and schedules a Polygraph examination. |
|
A polygraph exam will be administered. |
|
Thorough background check that includes: Personal History, Criminal History, Financial Credit, Driving Record, Employment History, and References. |
|
Candidate is scheduled for an in person interview with a Division Chief and a Lieutenant.If successful, a conditional job offer may be extended to candidate after passing background investigation. |
|
Psychological and Medical exams will be conducted. |
If the candidate's background is satisfactory and the candidate passes all steps of the hiring process, the candidate may be hired. |
